Golf Push Carts - For Your Game, Your Health, and Your Wallet
By Mark F.

You've heard it said that "golf is a game of a lifetime". It's a game that you can start playing as a young child, and as long as your health permits, you can continue to play well into your senior years. And that's the key, to be healthy enough to continue to play, and on top of that, being able to do so on a fixed income when you retire. As a former PGA teaching professional, here's some advice how you can start improving your health, probably your game, and if you normally ride, save a lot of money in the process. Beginning with the next time you play, instead of renting a riding cart, consider walking using a golf push cart. This will immediately put you on a path to a healthier you, and if you play regularly and rent a riding cart each time, with the amount of money you would save over the course of a season...well let's just say you could be playing with the latest equipment next year or paying a good chunk of your membership dues or greens fees!

Most serious golfers spend hundreds of dollars on their game. Whether it's new equipment, lessons, practice aids, or accessories, if they think it will improve their game, it's worth the money. Many golfers have already found that by making a small investment in a golf push cart, they can not only play the game they love and improve their health, they can save hundreds of dollars over the course of a season. What will you do with all your extra cash?

Push carts are being seen in increasing numbers on golf courses everywhere. Golfers who are serious about their game are beginning to realize that walking when they play is not only good for their health, but many of them play better when they walk. Everyone strives for consistency in golf. It's important to remember however, that being consistent isn't just limited to the swing. Sure, having a consistent swing is going to help, but what about in between shots. When a player rides, after each shot, they get in a cart with whomever they're riding with and drive to whatever one of their balls is farthest from the hole. Because that player arrived at their ball so quickly, they're probably going to have to stand around and wait to hit their next shot because the group in front hasn't cleared the green yet. If that player was walking, they would have walked at a consistent pace from their previous shot to their next shot. They'd also be able to "see" the next shot that they're going to try to hit as they approach from behind (something every touring pro does). The group in front should be just about ready to exit the green which means you can get into your pre-shot routine much sooner and therefore less standing around. Walking will allow you to play at a consistent pace throughout the entire round.

We all know that walking is good for your health. But I don't ever remember seeing a person walking or running on the side of the road that looked like they were having a good time. As golfers, we have the luxury of being able to play golf while we walk. You'll expend little or no extra energy using a push cart, to get your clubs around the course while you play compared to carrying your clubs or pulling them behind you. The extra spring in your step that you'll have at the end of your round can only serve to help your game.

Because 3-wheel and 4-wheel push carts are becoming so popular and take less effort to use, many golf courses are now replacing their fleet of 2-wheelers. Along with many standard features, golfers who own their own, can customize them with any number of golf push cart accessories. Just about anything a player would want can be added to help make their round of golf almost as enjoyable as beating your best friend three ways on a $5 nassau.
